TOBA TEK SINGH: The suspect, who was killed by police in an encounter at Gojra on Tuesday, was identified by Nadra as Nawaz Rashid of Lahore’s Nathoki village, Batapur.

Police said he was sacked during training as ASI.

Previously police had claimed that he was Rana Shafiq of Lahore.

Lahore’s Hadiara (Barki) police told this correspondent that Nawaz was wanted in a double murder case registered against him on March 16, 2016. He was an under-training ASI and had been terminated from service.

Police said he had shot dead his two relatives Safdar and Rizwan at Nathoki village over a property dispute.
