Woman’s death by ‘wrong injection’: paramedic held, doctor absconding

KARACHI: The Awami Colony police arrested a paramedical staff member of a hospital over allegation of unintentional murder of a 24-year-old woman allegedly administered with a “wrong” injection that claimed her life, police said on Saturday.

The FIR has been registered against paramedical staff member Shahzeb and doctor Ayaz Abbasi, who is absconding after the incident.

Area SHO Shahid Khan told Dawn that the family took Asmat suffering from a gum infection to the medical unit of a famous hospital in Korangi No. 5 on April 18.

The family claimed that the young girl was administered with a wrong injection, which triggered reaction and resulted in her death, the police added.

A brother of the deceased Ghulam Mohammed lodged an FIR against Shahzeb and Ayaz Abbasi.

The case has been registered under Sections 318 (Qatl-i-khata: whoever, without any intention to cause death of, or cause harm to, a person causes death of such person, either by mistake of act or by mistake of fact, is said to commit qatl-i-khata) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Man held over transgender person’s murder

The Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Saturday claimed to have arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the brutal murder of a transgender person in a Tariq Road locality on April 13.

The body of Shabbir, alias Shabana, was recovered from a flat near Liberty Chowk on Tariq Road.

The victim hailed from Rahim Yar Khan.
