'Kaptaan' Khan gives cricket team pre-World Cup pep talk

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with the national cricket team and the Pakistan Cricket Board at Bani Gala on Friday during which he gave the team tips for World Cup success.
The meeting comes a day after the squad for the World Cup 2019 was announced. The tournament kicks off on May 30 with a One Day International between England and South Africa.
Prime Minister Imran Khan spent over an hour imparting advice to the cricket team and sharing his experiences with them.
"A champion steps onto the pitch armed with passion and a plan. Team spirit is a key part of victory," he told the team, according to his spokesperson.
"With your skills, sportsman spirit and your conduct, bring glory to Pakistan's name," he said.
He offered encouragement to the players and expressed hope that they would be victorious in the World Cup.
"The entire nation's prayers are with you [...] Representing the country at an international forum is a big honour. You are ambassadors of the nation and the people's eyes are on you, and their hopes rest with you," he said.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf tweeted that preparations for the World Cup were also discussed during the meeting.

In my view, motivational talks are useful, but in the end the players have to perform according to ground and weather conditions together with how all players cope with both psychological and physical pressure during and after the matches. However, I wish our team good luck and say: be brave, don't let other teams pressurise you, play sensibly like a team and be positive all the way! (Gharib Awam ki Awaz).

Good motivation for the boys . The country also needs to be coached on patience and not expect win every time or quick fixes to every problem . We need to do the best we can and learns from any shortcomings even if we win the World Cup their learning should be continuous.

Inzi has made a big blunder. Shirwani and Amir have the swing that could have been game changer in England. Don't judge by their performance in UAE or Pakistan's dead wkts. Junaid has been tried too often and he should have been left out after two years of wilderness.

Pakistan will miss services of two key players, perhaps overlooked. The unforgettable and a hard hitting batsman in Sharjeel Khan, whose misdemeanours did not deserve the punishment, it was just an intent but did not translate on the ground. The fact he was sent home in disgrace was sufficient punishment coupled with a few match ban. The other player Pakistan will regret non-inclusion, the selectors hiding behind experienced players is the young magician in Umar Khan. It will come to haunt the team them as the game progresses and losses mount.
