GUJRAT: A man was gunned down and two others, including a woman, sustained bullet injuries in the firing by a man during a Panchayat meeting at Sahnwal village in the Rehmania police precincts on Thursday.

One Rizwan had some dispute with Shiraz and others. Afzaal Ahmed Gujjar, the brother of former president of Gujrat Bar Association Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed, along with Shiraz arrived at the house of Rizwan for the settlement of the dispute between both the parties through the Panchayat. During the meeting, Rizwan got infuriated after an exchange of harsh words. He brought out a gun from inside the house and opened fire at the visitors, which resulted in injuring three people, including Afzaal, Shiraz and a woman, Zohra.

The injured remained at the crime scene for more than an hour before they were shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital where the doctors pronounced Afzaal dead due to excessive bleeding. The condition of other two injured was stated to be out of danger.

The police have registered a case against Rizwan on the report of Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed advocate.

The Rehmania police claimed to have arrested Rizwan from an outhouse in the area of Gujrat Saddar police.
