KARACHI: The sixth edition of Inter-divisional Womens Softball Championship will run from April 26-28 under floodlights at Hyderabad Club in Hyderabad.

Apart from hosts and defending champions Hyderabad, teams of Karachi, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Benazirabad will be seen in action.

Mohammad Nasir will be the organising committee chairman of the tournament. Meanwhile, Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh will be the secretary and Murad Hussain will be the coordinator during the tournament.

A meeting was held ahead of the tournament, which was addressed by Sindh Softball Association (SSA) President Saleem Rajput. SSA Chairman Mohammad Ali Shah, SSA Secretary Mohammad Zeeshan Merchant, Treasurer Mohammad Nasir, Joint Secretary Murad Hussain, Director Game Development Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh, Faraz Ijaz and other were also present.

On the occasion, Saleem said that this event will help them spot new talent in the province. A lot of players came forward in last years edition, which was held in Khairpur. He added that the championship will be held in a befitting manner and players and officials will receive all amenities and hospitable environment during the tournament.

A SSA delegation also met Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammad Abbas Baloch, who praised them for holding the event in Hyderabad. He said that the city and province is a peace loving land and hosting sports events comes naturally with that. He assured his full support for the event.

He said that such events bring people closer to each other and increases inclusivity of communities. He hoped that such events will give players to the nation, who will in return win laurels for the country internationally.
