KARACHI, July 11: The Sindh High Court on Monday sent a woman, Ms Irshad, to Darul Aman for two days and ordered that her spouse Nawaz Ali may not be arrested till the next date of hearing. SHC’s division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Zia Pervaiz, was hearing a petition by Ms Irshad, seeking quashment of Zina case against her spouse. Petitioner’s father Faiz Mohammad lodged an FIR at the Badin police station, alleging that Nawaz Ali had kidnapped his daughter with an intent to Zina.

The petitioner said that she had married Nawaz.

Fiaz Mohammad said that the petitioner was harassed to do so and said that her Nikah was solemnised with one Mohammad Aslam though Rukhsati could not take place.

He told the court that Mohammad Aslam also filed a suit for restitution of conjugal rights.

The court, after hearing the case, ordered that the petitioner be kept in Darul Aman for two days where no visitor be allowed to meet her and adjourned hearing till July 13.—PPI
