PESHAWAR: The 40th death anniversary of former prime minister and founder of Pakistan People’s Party Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was observed on Thursday in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and workers of the party pledged to fulfil his mission for strengthening democracy in the country.
In Peshawar, a gathering was held in Landi Arbab that was addressed by PPP provincial vice president Syed Ayub Shah, Peshawar division president Liaquat Shabab, district president Malik Saeed and deputy general secretary Misbahuddin Khan.
The speakers paid rich tributes to the PPP founder. They said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto united all the political parties for approval of Constitution. They said that credit for introduction of agricultural reforms, setting up steel mills and protection of the rights of labourers and farmers also went to Bhutto.

The speakers said that he sacrificed his life for progress of the nation and development of the country. They vowed to follow his mission.
In Mardan, a ceremony was held at the residence of PPP district president Aurangzeb Khan Hoti that was attended by a large number of party workers.
Addressing on the occasion, the speakers said that April 4, 1979 was a black day in the history of the country. They said that forces of darkness succeeded to eliminate the most popular leader of the people on that day for his ‘crime’ of giving voice to the poor.
They said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was still alive in the hearts of people.
In Abbottabad, the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was observed by People’s Doctors Forum. Former provincial minister Shamroz Khan Jadoon, PDF provincial president Dr Nisar, secretary information Dr Daud, Dr Qazi Adnan, Mehdi Zaman and Iqbal Kawaish spoke on the occasion.
In Lower Dir, a gathering was held in the Chakdara fishing hut with PPP district president Mehmoodzeb in the chair. Party workers from all parts of the district attended the function.
Former provincial ministers Bakht Baidar Khan, PPP district senior vice president Tahir Khan, Ashfaq Bacha, Sher Mohammad and others addressed the gathering.
They said that PPP always fought for restoration of democracy in the country. They said that PPP would continue to fight for the rights of poor.
In Chitral, a function was held in town hall to observe the death anniversary of PPP founder that was addressed by Salim Khan, Eng Fazl-i-Rabbi Jan, Advocate Alameb, Amirullah and others.
In Bajaur, PPP organised a ceremony to observe the death anniversary of Zulkiar Ali Bhutto.
Addressing the function, the local leaders of PPP criticised the government for ignoring tribal districts in development schemes. They said a single scheme was not launched in any tribal district during the last eight months.
They said that government failed to fulfil its promises. They alleged that corruption and mismanagement were increased in the tribal districts during the PTI government.
On the occasion, workers of several parties have announced to join PPP.
