KARACHI: Kamal Afsar, a former national table tennis champion and captain of Pakistan in world events during the 1970s, passed away on April 1, 2019.

He was over 70 years of age. A former vice- president of Asian Table Tennis Union and a high-profile bureaucrat Kamal served as Pakistan’ Consul General for five years in Hong Kong and held prominent posts such as Federal Secretary Commerce, CEO Pak Automobile Corp, Chairman State Life and Chairman Karachi Electric Supply.
