Rape case probe restarts

SHEIKHUPURA, July 10: On the direction of Supreme Court’s division bench, SP (investigation) Rao Abdul Kareem on Sunday restarted investigation of the rape case against the son of former district nazim Tawakalullah Virk.

A-Division police had registered the rape case against accused Moazzam Virk on April 5.

According to the FIR, accused Moazzam Virk had allegedly raped a 10-year-old maid ‘B’, the daughter of Ali Sher.

Under court’s instruction of completing the investigation within a fortnight, the SP on Sunday recorded the statements of the complainant, A-Division SHO Ghulam Gillani, accused Moazzam Virk, former district nazim camp office’s employees, including the telephone operator, the cook, sanitary worker Yousaf Walana and driver Talib.

The IO directed the victim, her brother Mazhar Yasin, father Ali Sher, mother Haleema Bibi, Dr Khawar Rafique, Dr Fareeda Sheraz Warraich, SHO Ghulam Gillani, accused Moazzam Virk and others to turn up on Monday (today) as well to record their statements. — Correspondent
