Road blocked

LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), July 10: Dozens of coach owners blocked a section of the Peshawar-Bara road for several hours on Sunday to protest against the arrest of their colleagues by the political administration.

The Bara political administration impounded three public transport vehicles and arrested their drivers a few days back under the collective territorial responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation after an armed clash between two sub-tribes of Bara Qambarkhel.

In order to bring the culprits to book, Bara political authorities made arrests and impounded vehicles owned by Bara Qambarkhel tribesmen.

Public transport representatives on Sunday demanded that they should be exempted from the collective territorial responsibility of Frontier Crimes Regulation and their colleagues and vehicles be released soon.

The transporters threatened to block the road for an indefinite period if their demands were not accepted.
