KARACHI: Condemning the incidents of violence in the city, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Friday that the nefarious designs of unscrupulous elements to destroy peace would be crushed with an iron hand.

He directed police and Rangers to intensify their targeted operations in the city.

In a statement issued here, he said that peace in the city had been restored with a lot of sacrifices of the people and law enforcement agencies but some unscrupulous elements were trying to destroy the peace. “We will not allow anybody to destroy this peace,” he said.

Taking strong notice of the two firing incidents near Nipa traffic intersection and Nursery, he expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives and assured them that the killers would be brought to book.

He spoke to the inspector general of police, Rangers director general and Karachi police chief and directed them to improve law and order in the city and arrest the killers and their masterminds.

Mr Shah believed that the peaceful holding of the Pakistan Super League and flourishing of trade, commerce, social and educational activities in the city were not acceptable to the enemies of Karachi and Pakistan.

“We are going to launch a vigorous targeted operation against terrorists, outlaws and drug mafia,” he said and directed the Special Branch and Counter-Terrorism Department of the Sindh police to investigate the attacks and identify the groups involved.
