LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council will organise a musical evening -- Alhamra Unplugged Season 2 -- on Tuesday where young singers selected for the ‘season 2’ will perform on the occasion. Recordings are being done at the Alhamra studios. Other seasoned singers will also enthrall the audience.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Athar Ali Khan said the programme provided a broad platform to young singers to explore new journeys. He said the recording studios was also being upgraded with the latest recording gadgets. He said he was hopeful that like the previous season, Alhamra Unplugged Season 2 would receive a great appreciation and acclaim from the general public.

Over a dozen original compositions would be introduced along with cover songs. The Alhamra Unplugged Season 2 orientation session introduced a fresh batch of 65 singers in January this year and instrumentalists who also signed contracts with the Lahore Arts Council at the introductory event. Twelve covers and six original songs would be recorded during this year’s Unplugged in Pashtu, Punjabi, Seraiki, Rajasthani, Persian and English in genres such as pop, rock, folk, qawwali, Sufi, reggae and ghazal. The Band of Kolachi and Teen Taal with various legendary singers would also perform in Unplugged Season 2.
