PRESIDENT John F. Kennedy once said: “The human mind is our fundamental resource.” Going forth from this point, I feel there is a dire need for us to have psychologists in almost every sphere of life.

There is an Office of Career Services that deals with matters regarding career development. The OCS works to educate, connect, and advise students about opportunities to foster their intellectual, social, and personal transformation. It plays a valuable role in guiding, motivating and converting degrees into professions.

Although the efforts undertaken by OCS in different universities are appreciable, this scribe has two reservations. One, the notifications for job opportunities mostly pertain to business and other fields and rarely for sciences especially social sciences. Two, there are hardly any updates about scholarships or national outreach programmes.

There is a need to develop credible relations with renowned social sciences organisations and entities to provide better career opportunities in the country and abroad. Psychology as a field and profession has a lot of untapped potential.
