KARACHI: A man was found murdered in Shah Faisal Colony on Sunday, police said.

They said that the body of a man, later identified as Imam Bukhsh, 54, was found in a vacant plot near Millat Mor within the remit of the Al-Falah police station.

He was hit with a hard and blunt weapon. The body also bore torture marks.

The corpse was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Al-Falah SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said that the murder might be linked with the recent killing of a couple in the name of so-called ‘honour’.

He said that the body of a man and woman were found within the remits of the Al-Falah and Sharafi Goth police stations, respectively. It was later transpired that they were killed allegedly by the woman’s husband, identified as Mumtaz.

The officer said that the deceased, Imam Bukhsh, was an uncle of Mumtaz.

The area SHO said that they came to know that subsequently a provincial lawmaker had arranged an ‘agreement’ with the suspect, Mumtaz, and the relatives of the deceased’s couple.

It was reportedly agreed that the suspect would give Rs1.2 million (Rs600,000 each to heir of the deceased woman and the man) as compensation.

He had reportedly paid Rs400,000 and was supposed to pay the remaining amount.

The police approached the deceased’s relatives, who took the coffin to his hometown Sanghar for burial.

He said that they were waiting for them to return and an the FIR to initiate formal investigation into the incident.

Young man gunned down in Pak Colony

A young man was shot dead in the Old Golimar area on Sunday, police said.

They said that 26-year-old Mohammed Hafeez was targeted by unknown suspects near Eidgah within the remit of the Pak Colony police station.

Investigators collected two spent bullet casings fired from a .30-bore pistol from the crime scene.

SSP-West Shoukat Ali said that the police were investigating the murder to ascertain the possible motive and identity of the killers.

Woman found dead in Sohrab Goth

A woman was found dead in the Sohrab Goth area on Sunday, according to police.

They added that the body of a woman, aged around 45-50, was recovered in bushes in Ayub Goth near Sunday Bazaar.

The corpse was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination, where doctors reserved the cause of death for the report of a chemical examiner.

It appeared that the body had lain there for around one day. Later, the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.
