CHINIOT: A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife and three children here on Saturday.

Ijaz Ali, 40, a resident of Mohallah Ghafoorabad, shot dead his wife Rubina, five-year-old son Abu Bakar, four-year-old daughter Tehrim and three-year-old daughter Murtazeen and later committed suicide.

DPO Anwer Khetran along with a team of police reached there to have first-hand information about the incident. The crime scene unit collected evidence from the scene.

The DPO said initial assessment showed that the family had no enmity with anyone and Ijaz was not suffering from any mental disorder.

SHO Shabbir Baloch told reporters that police were investigating the incident and the bodies had been handed over the family after postmortem.

According to FIR, Mumtaz, brother of Ijaz, stated that he went to the house of Ijaz on Friday night and slept in another room. Early in the morning he woke up to the gunshots and after breaking the door open, he found his brother holding pistol.

He said Ijaz immediately shot in his own head. The family was shifted to the DHQ hospital by Rescue 1122 but all of them died.

He said his brother had been facing financial hardships in his trade and he would often quarrel with his wife.
