KARACHI: Champion Rider of the Year, M Manzoor, stormed home a brace of winners including the Broad Peak Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Long shot four-year-old bay filly WhatsApp whose winningg streak was interrupted by Sweet Victory on March nine, returned to winning ways while lowering the colours of favourite three-year-old colt Give Away by neck to land the Broad Peak Cup.

This is WhatsApp’s third triumph of the year, all under Manzoor.

Dark bay horse Parachuter settled third two-and-a-half lengths behind with seven-year-old bay horse Beat The Clock occupying fourth place on board among seven starters.

Earlier, Manzoor obliged all and sundry by piloting home favourite unknown pedigree bay horse Blue Revenue to maiden victory of the year in fourth attempt.

The victorious horse gets the better of bay horse Red Star by five-and-a-half lengths.

Another form horse Sassy Gold had to be content with third slot while mare Sharapova completed the frame. The field was reduced to seven following withdrawal of Boolan Queen before the race.

The trend continued when another public fancy bay horse Cracks Man made it two on trot winning as he pleased by nine-and-a-half lengths over Pari in the second race.

Billions In Mind and Sonia Again followed the top two in same order respectively. The latter could not compete in the preceding meeting on March nine following its withdrawal.

Earlier the field was reduced to five after Paris was withdrawan before the start of race.

Continuing from where she had left in her last outing, rank outsider unknown pedigree bay mare Second Life stretched her winning run by imposing to a facile two lengths victory over favourite Justify to clinch the fourth and last race. She was steered to victory by Zaki Zakir who had piloted her home in the last run.

Black Smoke and Don Khalifa finished third and fourth respectively on board.

Rider turned trainer Ghulam Shabbir II excelled in his cadre partnering WhatsApp and Second Life for a double.
