SUKKUR, Oct 4: Sindh Governor Muhammedmian Soomro has issued implicit directives to step up security measures to provide complete security to the life and honour of the people living at the border areas, specially to the employees of the foreign firms exploring oil and gas there. The directives came in the wake of deteriorating law and order situation along with Sindh- Balochistan border. Following the directives police have established 30 posts there. Security arrangements for the protection of the camps of oil and gas exploring companies had been increased and 120 kilometre long border area was being guarded by commandos where patrolling had also been intensified.

So far 120 suspects have been rounded up from different villages located on the Sindh-Balochistan border in the aftermath of attack on Parco security men.

The attack was launched by the dacoits against the establishment of the police post near Sui in the jurisdiction of Bakshapur police station.

IG Police, Syed Kamal Shah, has issued directives to establish more police posts there. Frontier Constabulary jawans had also been deployed at Jacobabad police stations to assist the police to maintain law and order in the area.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened around the civil airport of Jacobabad also which is now manned by over 100 army men.

Besides the airport, sensitive installations were also being kept under a strict vigil. The army jawans have been asked to check the identity of the people coming to and from the airport.

Besides six pickets have also been set up around the city each of them containing 15 to 20 jawans.

The jawans had been called in from Pano Aqil Cantonment to the city.

The villagers reaching Jacobabad from other parts of the district were also being bodily searched by the army men.

Water rotation: Executive engineer of irrigation Rohri division, Moro has announced group-wise rotation programme of several channels of Rohri canal circle.

According to this programme, group-1 channels viz Sial minor, Sahito minor, Dewan minor, Khan Wahan minor, Godhu distributary, Kotri minor, Bhogri minor, Chiber minor, Kharik minor, Nauabad distributary, Dhodha minor, Kandiaro minor, Budika distributary, Salehpur minor, Larik minor, Manjuth minor, Derbelo distributary, Detha minor, Old Keti minor, Nather Detha distributary, Lundki distributary and Dares minor will be closed on October 1 and opened on October 9.

These channels will again be closed on October 17 and opened on October 25.

The channels of group-2 like Sial distributary and its all off-taking channels will remain closed from Oct 9 to 17.
