PESHAWAR: Regional Tax Office (RTO), Peshawar, has accelerated its tax recovery campaign and issued arrest warrants for several defaulters, said an official source.

It was stated that the immovable properties and bank accounts of around 2,874 defaulters were frozen while vehicles of some of them were also attached.

The source said that arrest warrants for 126 persons in Peshawar, Mardan, DI Khan and corporate zones had been issued. He said that the attached properties could not be sold without prior permission of the tax authorities.

He said that a total of 42 vehicles of the defaulters had been attached while the bank accounts of 2,874 tax defaulters were frozen.

The tax authorities have warned all the defaulters to pay their outstanding taxes with immediate effect to save themselves from legal complications.
