ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to start development work on the stalled I-15 sector. Approved by the federal government in 1992, the sector was designed exclusively for the low-income group in 2005. However, its development has been facing neglect by the city managers.

The incumbent management of the CDA has now decided to start the development work within a few weeks.

Chairing a sectors development meeting on Tuesday, CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed directed the concerned formation to place an advertisement in the press to award the contract for the development.

There are 10,289 plots and the CDA has no issue regarding possession of land as around 90 per cent of the land is already under its possession.

In the fiscal year 2018-19, the civic agency earmarked Rs1billion for development work of the sector.

“Today the chairman gave the go ahead and we will award the contract of I-15/3 and within next 10 days will float the tenders,” said CDA spokesperson Syed Safdar Ali.

He said a few weeks ago contract for a link road between I-14 and I-16 passing through I-15 was awarded and work commenced.

Mr Ali said instructions had also been issued for full scale development work on remaining parts of Park Enclave-1.

“These sectors will create huge revenue streams for the CDA. Funds are available for the two projects,” the spokesperson said, adding the projects would create new commercial areas and huge sources of revenue which will be utilised for the infrastructural improvement of the city.
