THE WEEK THAT WAS

Aangan | Hum TV, Thursdays 8.00pm

When Mazhar (Omair Rana) lands up in jail for hitting a British officer on the head with a vase, elder brother Azhar (Mustafa Afridi) decides to move Mazhar’s reluctant family to his own home.

Chammi (Sajjal Aly) is thrilled to have cousin Aliya aka Bitto (Mawra Hocane) to chit chat with, but when she learns that Jamil (Ahad Raza Mir) has offered his room to Bitto to stay in, she feels a pang of jealousy and reckons there may be trouble ahead in her one-sided love life.

Dil Kya Kare | Geo TV, Mondays 8.00pm

Things get a little complicated with newly married Aiman (Yumna Zaidi) who doesn’t have a clue about cousin Arman (Feroze Khan) harbouring feelings for her. But her husband Saadi (Mirza Zain Baig) has found out and, from being a loving, poetically inclined husband, has transformed into an angry young man. Since Arman was Saadi’s close friend, and sacrificed his love for them, Saadi is hurting and confused.

Being involved in some property issue and getting threats from dangerous people suggests that yet another tragedy awaits Aiman after the loss of her parents in an airplane crash. Fun ahead is expected after Arman’s sour-puss mum Rumaisa (Marina Khan) tells Aiman and Saadi that she knew about her son’s feelings all along.

What To Watch Out For

Cheekh | ARY, Saturdays 8.00pm

Yet another episode where director Bader Mehmood weaves magic with Zanjabeel Asim Shah’s hard-hitting storyline. Devastated after Wajih (Bilal Abbas) confessed his attempting rape and murder of Nayab (Ushna Shah) to her, Mannat (Saba Qamar) confides in her mum (Gul-i-Rana). Mannat’s bestie/sister-in-law Haya (Azekah Daniel) refuses to believe anything so ridiculous about her brother Wajih, and their relationship is ruined.

Wajih, the spoilt brat of the family, goads Mannat as he is certain that with his money and position, she is unable to harm him. He buys off police officer Amir (Nayyer) and even tries to buy off Nayab’s parents, but instead gets black colour thrown on his face by Nayab’s father Ramzan (Noor-ul-Hassan). Meanwhile, Mannat’s husband Shayan (Emmad Irfani) suggests she go abroad on a visit.

Alone in her struggle to find justice for her best friend’s murder, Mannat agrees to fly out but putting Wajih behind bars is definitely her goal.
