QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the Supreme Court should constitute a commission to probe 25 years’ Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the province and punish those who were responsible for ill planning and wrongdoing.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting of the cabinet on Tuesday, he said that his government would implement orders of the Balochistan High Court regarding the province’s PSDP for 2018-19.

While hearing a suo motu case on Monday, the BHC had ordered the government to focus on completing ongoing development schemes in education, health, water, irrigation and law and order sectors

Mr Alyani said that the cabinet had appreciated the court order and expressed the hope that court would continue to guide the provincial government in providing relief to people. On the directives of the BHC, he said, the provincial government was working on schemes in health, education, drinking water and law and order sectors.

Mr Alyani said that the court had ordered completion of the development schemes which had not been completed for a long time. “Work is in progress on 411 development schemes which have been pending since long,” he said, adding that some of the development schemes were 10 years old and estimated to cost between Rs37 billion to Rs42bn.
