OUR politicians whether they are in government or in opposition always advocate the benefits of democracy and the right to freedom of expression.
But, alas, our elected democratic representatives do not know about the exact spirit of democracy.
In the National Assembly, opposition members undermine democratic norms. One recent example was when Finance Minister Asad Omar came to present the mini-budget speech on Jan 23.
As soon as he started speaking, the opposition benches started to make noise. Does it really suit a democratically elected parliament to display such undemocratic attitude?
In my opinion the opposition benches should have heard the speech in silence and then come up with their arguments.
