Pilot school

Published February 19, 2019

THE high school in Larkana, which was known as Pilot School in 1964, was built in 1919. It was upgraded to higher secondary status in 1994.

It used to be affiliated with the Bombay University. The beautiful, e-shaped building of the school built by the British is one of the historical assets of Larkana.

Currently, 6,300 students study here, making it one of the largest schools of Sindh. Besides imparting formal education, the students here are also taught woodwork, electrical work, metal work and typing.

This school is celebrating its centenary this year. It has produced several personalities who served the country as politicians, bureaucrats, judges, doctors, engineers and academics.

At the moment, eight senior superintendents of police in different talukas of Sindh, several DMG officers and also the incumbent chief justice of the Sindh High Court had been students of this school.

The school faces several problems such as insufficient drinking water and washrooms. There are just two cleaners for such a large school.

The education minister along with the education secretary visited the school two months ago and was briefed about the problems of the school. But, sadly, there has been no response. This school needs Sindh government’s attention.
