LAHORE, July 4: MMA President and Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has denied the charges levelled by Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Husain implicating the Jamaat leadership in cold-blooded murders of two religious scholars, Mufti Atiqur Rehman and Qari Irshadul Haq. They had been gunned down by unknown assailants in Karachi last week.

In a statement on Monday, the MMA leader termed the London telephonic address of the MQM leader to a women convention in Karachi baseless, concocted and absurd which had caused serious mental torture to millions of JI workers and the MMA leadership across Pakistan.

The Qazi has held consultations with senior lawyers like Barrister Dr Farooq Hasan, Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari, Chaudhry Khalid Farooq and Chaudhry Aslam Seleemi on the issue.

They have mulled various options to seek “redressal of grievances” through courts both within Pakistan and abroad.
