SAHIWAL, July 4: Two labourers were killed and four others injured when a tractor-trolley laden with earth overturned at Aidal Kay village on Monday. The tractor-trolley (PK-6456), coming from the bank of river Ravi, overturned after it skidded off the road and fell into a ditch. Labourers Iqbal Baloch and Fateh Muhammad died instantly while Muhammad Din, Sarwar, Hadayat and Chanan received injuries. They were rushed to hospital where the condition of two of them was stated to be serious.

POLICE GRILLED: Punjab IGP Ziaul Hasan has reportedly given vent to his disquiet over the performance of the local police in arresting proclaimed offenders and absconders.

During the last six months, the Sahiwal police had arrested only a few criminals. He said around 455 POs and 409 absconders were yet to be arrested.

The IGP warned that action would be taken against SHOs if they failed to arrest POs and absconders.

LOOTED: Armed bandits looted cash and other valuables worth Rs350,000 in different strikes here on Sunday night.

Three armed robbers entered the house of Muhammad Anwar and held the inmates hostage. They thrashed his wife and children on resistance, collected valuables worth Rs68,000 and escaped.

In Jinnah Abadi of Chak 3/10-L, armed robbers snatched a car (MNY-4467) from driver Zulfiqar.

Armed bandits looted valuables amounting to Rs125,000 from the house of dispenser Abdul Aleem in E-Block of Scheme No 2.

Police have registered separate cases.
