LAHORE: The cabinet committee on finance and development has decided to complete the ongoing development projects on a priority basis.

A meeting of the committee held at the Chief Minister Secretariat on Friday rejected the project of construction and repairs of ministers official residences and decided to give a top priority to the ongoing development projects and repair and maintenance of state-run hospitals.

It also approved conditionally recruitment of professionals for special education and reviewed ban on recruitment in educational boards and public universities.

Chaired by Hashim Jawan Bakht and Mian Aslam Iqbal, the committee decided to prioritise the construction of tehsil sports complexes and devising a foolproof mechanism for their maintenance.

Reviewing a bailout package for the Gujranwala Development Authority, the committee directed its Water and Sanitation Agency to improve its dues recovery so that the masses could enjoy trouble-free services.

The panel also reviewed development projects of Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Kasur and other towns and gave in-principal go ahead to the Apna Ghar project. It also approved the holding of an international buffalo conference and national livestock and buffalo show.
