QUETTA, July 3: Pakistani border authorities have arrested an Afghan refugee attempting to smuggle explosives to Afghanistan through southwestern checkpoint, an official said on Sunday.

“We arrested an Afghan refugee trying to cross the border with eight kilograms of explosives, timers, detonators, wires, and a complete bomb with a timer at the Chaman checkpost late Saturday,” a paramilitary commander told AFP.

Chaman in Balochistan province faces the Afghan border town of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, where Taliban militants have stepped up attacks against US-led military and Afghan government targets.
