LAHORE: Minister for Information and Culture Fayyazul Hasan Chohan has said that doors to singing competition -- Voice of Punjab -- will be open for the public from March 2.
He was addressing a press conference at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Thursday. Women, men and transgender persons can participate in the contest.
“Talented singers from all districts will be sought through Voice of Punjab and Pakistan Television is a partner in airing live auditions and programmes in this regard,” he said adding that Rs13 million had been allocated for the project.
Auditions would simultaneously be held in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Rawalpindi on March 2 and 3 and 20 singers from every division would be selected. For four quarter finals some 80 or so singers would compete, he said.
At the quarter finals which would be held at Alhamra on March 8, 12, 19 and 20, five singers from every division would be selected.
The minister said 20 singers would participate in semi finals to be held on March 23 and 26. The final would be held on March 30. The first prize will be Rs 500,000, second Rs 200,000 and third Rs100,000.
