KARACHI: Aelya Talpur, wife of His Highness Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur II — the last ruler of the princely State of Khairpur — died at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) on Thursday. She was in her late 70s.

She leaves two sons and a daughter.

According to an SIUT official she was last admitted to the institute about three weeks back. The body was taken to the family’s residence known as Takri Waro Bungalow in Kot Diji where the funeral will be held on Friday.

Aelya Talpur, known as Begum Sahiba, was a daughter of eminent philosopher and religious scholar Allama Rasheed Turabi.
