LAHORE: Wapda on Friday awarded its players with cash awards for winning the medals at the recently-held 56th National Badminton Championship.

The championship was staged in Lahore from Jan 25 to 31. Wapda chairman retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain handed over the cash awards to the successful Wapda players and their coaches.

The players, who received the awards included Ali Mehdi, Azeem Sarwar, Aoun Abbas, Mohammad Atique, Awais Zahid, Zonain, Hashir Bashir, Waqas Ahmed, Mahoor Shahzad, Sehra Akram, Aneela Irshad, Saima Waqas, Huma Javed, Khizra, Zafar Tasneem and Haroon Javed. Besides winning the women’s team title, Wapda seized men’s as well as women’s single titles at the National Badminton Championship.
