SAHIWAL: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has failed to make any headway in the Sahiwal killings as the six CTD personnel on a seven-day judicial remand at the Central Prison are said to have denied the allegation of opening fire on four people near Qadirabad on Jan 19.

It is learnt that the suspects have told the JIT that Muhammad Khalil, members of his family and his friend Zeeshan were killed in the firing of two motorcyclists who were moving close to the car.

The Yousafwala police arrested the six CTD officials and registered a case against them under section 302 of PPC and 7-ATA.

On the other hand, Jalil, a brother of deceased Muhammad Khalil, did not visit the Central Prison for identity parade.

Sources said a police official brought summons for Jalil to join the identity process but he refused to receive it.

Jalil told Dawn that he had no confidence in the CTD investigation and wanted a judicial commission to take up the case.

CTD Sub Inspector Safdar Hussain, Nasir Nawaz, Ahsan Khan, Muhammad Ramzan, Saifullah Abid and Hasnain Akbar have not been presented to the Anti-Terrorism Court.

A source says the denial of the CTD officials is nothing more than a ploy to create confusion.
