RAHIM YAR KHAN: A pack of stray dogs mauled a woman to death on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

Ashraf, a resident of Chak 72, dropped her wife Khursheed Bibi for work at Mauza Pursaan on Monday morning and returned home.

Reports said Khursheed Bibi changed her route to reach the workplace due to rain and a pack of stray dogs attacked her.

The dogs mauled the woman and when she did not return home in the evening, her husband and other relatives frantically went from one place to another to search her but to no avail.

On Tuesday morning, they resumed search and eventually found the body in a field.

Police shifted the body to the Shaikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) for postmortem.

Meanwhile, there was panic in the area where the residents told the journalists that a boy was killed by stray dogs a few months ago but their complaints to the municipal committee many times had not borne fruit.

Municipal Committee Vice Chairman Abdul Latif Bhatti said a campaign had been launched last year to eliminate stray dogs.
