LAHORE: A teenage girl was recovered dead from a drain in Iqbal Town on Sunday.

Police said Uzma, 16, who belonged to Thokar Niaz Baig area, had been working as maid at Naeem’s house in Iqbal Town for the last eight months.

Police said the girl went missing three days ago and a case of kidnapping was registered against unidentified persons.

Police said the girl’s body was recovered from a drain and it was shifted to morgue for autopsy. The body was later handed over to the family after postmortem.

The family and relatives of the girl took the body and kept it on the motorway to register their protest. They alleged that Uzma’s employers had tortured her to death and disposed of the body in the drain to make it look like an accidental death.

They demanded that police arrest Naeem and his wife. Later, a police team arrested the couple but the protesters did not disperse even after five hours, leaving the motorway traffic in a mess.
