LAHORE, Jan 11: Punjab Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbool (retired) said here on Friday that the government was taking concrete measures to ensure the provision of easy, inexpensive and speedy justice to the people.

In this context, the role of the lawyers community could not be ignored, he said while talking to a delegation of Lahore Bar Association, led by its president Mian Israrul Haq, which called on him at the Governor’s House.

The governor said lawyers represented the intelligentsia and the educated segment of society, and the government had always valued their significant role and contribution in the dispensation of justice to the people. “We welcome their positive suggestions in the public interest,” he said.

Earlier, the delegation members apprised the governor about the problems being faced by the lawyers community in Lahore. In response, the governor assured resolution of their problems and gave a cheque of Rs300,000 to the delegation for the Bar library.
