PESHAWAR: The provincial leadership of Pakistan People’s Party has asked the district and divisional office-bearers of the party to mobilise activists by arranging worker conventions to start preparations for the next elections as Prime Minister Imran Khan has already hinted at early polls in the country.

According to a statement issued here on Thursday, the instructions were given by PPP provincial president Humayun Khan following his recent meeting with the top leadership of the party wherein different issues including reorganisation of the party were discussed.

Mr Khan said that party leadership wanted the workers to know about the flawed policies of government that had made life of poor people miserable. He said the ruling parties knew nothing about national policies but were frequently increasing the prices of power, gas and other utilities.

He said that PPP would not support any move to topple the government but Prime Minister Imran Khan himself had hinted at early polls in the country. He said that government’s policies showed that it had no capacity to run the country’s affairs successfully.

Mr Khan said that worker conventions would focus on creating awareness among the activists about the challenges being faced by people so that they could support any possible movement if announced by the party in future.

He said that the country’s economic condition could not be improved through foreign loans and donations. He added that it needed legislation and better policies to steer the country out of the economic crisis.

“It is ironic that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership in the past always targeted the successive governments by describing them a total failure just to come into power,” said the PPP leader. He added that PTI should prove its capability to resolve national issues.

Mr Khan said that the nation waiting anxiously that Imran Khan would materialise his commitments about creation of 10 million jobs and construction of five million houses for the poor people.

He claimed that government was trying to privatise the Bank of Khyber but PPP would not let it to do so. He urged the government to stop diverting attention of people from core national issues.
