LONDON, June 30: World oil prices rose on Thursday after shedding over four dollars over the past three days, and as oil cartel Opec halted consultations over a further output hike, dealers said.

New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in August, gained 19 cents to $57.45 per barrel in early deals.

In London on Thursday, the price of Brent North Sea crude oil for delivery in August won 10 cents to $56.25 per barrel, after hitting an intra-day low of $55.53. It hit a fresh high point of 59.59 dollars on Monday.
