RAWALPINDI: The reports about some administrative changes and expansion of Cabinet were today [Jan 14] described by the West Pakistan Governor, Mr Mohammad Musa, as “whispers and rumours”.

Asked by newsmen to comment on the reports on his arrival here from Lahore, he said some people were fond of indulging in rumour-mongering, “perhaps they have nothing better to do”, he added. Questioned about the possibility of lifting the emergency as indicated by reports in a section of the Press, he said he knew nothing about it.

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Karachi,] all primary schools including the primary sections of the lower secondary schools will reopen on Monday next [Jan 20], the Directorate of Education, Karachi Region, announced yesterday [Jan 14]. The educational quarters in Karachi were non-committal on the date of reopening of secondary and higher secondary schools and colleges. It is, however, believed that the local administration plans to reopen educational institutions in phases. A start will be made with the primary schools. Secondary schools may reopen a few days later.
