LAHORE: The rehabilitation programme of injured Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail will begin at the National Cricket Academy here from Monday, after he arrives from South Africa.

The recurrence of the longstanding knee injury, which has kept Haris away from cricket in the past, came to the fore during the ongoing tour and forced him out of the Test and ODI series against South Africa.

Dr Sohail Saleem, who is on the PCB panel, will be the in-charge of the rehab programme.

Meanwhile, disappointed Haris said in PCB media release: “It is never a great feeling to abort an international tour due to an injury. It was actually heartbreaking as I was looking forward to playing in Test series, until I had a recurrence of it during the innings of 73 not out against Cricket South Africa Invitation XI at start of the tour.

“We all had anticipated that I would recover in time for the second Test, but after it emerged that the injury will take more time to heal, it was appropriate for me to return home and start the rehabilitation in Lahore. Hopefully, I will make full recovery within the next four weeks.

“The disappointment of missing the Tests was compounded by some misreporting in a section of the press. I want to assure to all my fans, colleagues and selectors that I am fully committed to my game and the Pakistan team. I will leave no stone unturned during the rehabilitation in getting back on the field,” he concluded.
