LAKKI MARWAT: A man shot dead a teenage girl over marriage refusal by her parents in Mela Mandrakhel village here on Monday.

Police said accused Tahir Abbas armed with a pistol entered the house of the girl, 16, and tried to take her with him forcibly. On refusal he shot and killed the girl and escaped.

Sher Khan, a brother of the girl, told police in preliminary report that he along with two sisters was at home when Tahir Abbas entered there and caught hold of the victim to take her with him.

“I and my other sister tried to stop him but he aimed his pistol and hurled life threats at us if we resisted him,” he maintained, saying on resistance by the victim, he opened fire, killing her on the spot.

The complainant said the killer escaped the place. He told police that the killer wanted to marry the girl but she was already engaged to another man.

Police said the girl’s body was handed over to relatives after fulfilling medico-legal formalities. They said they had registered a case against the killer.
