GUJRANWALA, June 27: Eight people, including four family members, were killed while 15 others injured in two road accidents here on Monday. Four family members, including a minor girl, were killed in the accident on Sialkot Road in Gujranwala. PTCL employee Ashiq Husain and his family members were on their way to Farid Town from Aroop village by motorcycle when a speeding wagon hit them from the rear.
As a result, Ashiq, his son Luqman and nephew Bilal Ahmad died instantly while his minor daughter Anam sustained serious injuries. She was shifted to Mayo Hospital in Lahore where she died as well.
The wagon driver managed to escape from the scene. Bodies were handed over to their heirs after autopsy.
Police have registered a case against the absconding driver and are investigating.
A wagon, going to Kamoke from Tatley, came to a halt on the Kamoke Road to pick up some passengers.
In the meanwhile, a speeding tractor-trolley hit the wagon from the rear. Consequently, wagon driver Jamil and three passengers, unidentified so far, died instantly while 15 others injured, eight of them seriously. They were shifted to Kamoke THQ and Gujranwala DHQ hospitals.
Kamoke police have registered a case against the absconding driver.
