LAHORE: A fire erupted in an electronics plaza on Hall Road on Saturday morning, reducing to ashes mobile phones, accessories and other goods at a shop besides partially damaging another one.

The fire broke out in a mobile phone shop located at the third floor of the Service Centre at around 9am. The traders vacated the adjoining shops and alerted the Rescue 1122. They tried to extinguish the fire themselves but to no avail, the witnesses told the media.

At last, the fire engines of the Rescue 1122 managed to control the fire.

A spokesperson for the Emergency Service said the firefighters responded timely and managed to curtail the blaze to the affected shop only. However, the fire damaged a portion of the adjoining shop but the fire was controlled before spreading to the other shops or offices, he added.

BLAST: A man suffered injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in a milk shop at the Shalimar Housing Scheme, Baghbanpura.

The incident occurred due to a gas leakage, a police official said who added that Heera, 22, who was standing close to the cylinder suffered injuries.

The blast damaged a portion of the shop and created panic in the vicinity.
