LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has expressed his reservations regarding the parliamentarians’ honesty while carrying out development projects.

“The parliamentarians do receive commissions and fill their coffers from development funds,” he said while talking to media persons in Faisalabad on Thursday.

He said the parliamentarians would be asked to recommend development schemes and added that the development funds would directly go to those schemes.

“The PTI government will ensure there should be no pilferage in development funds,” he said.

Meanwhile, chief minister’s spokesman Dr Shahbaz Gill has also said the Punjab government would transfer funds to the districts and the parliamentarians would only be allowed to recommend different development schemes in their respective areas.

“The government will transfer funds for the approved schemes and ensure there should not be corruption of even a single penny,” he claimed.

Earlier, addressing the convocation of a private university, the governor said all the universities of Punjab would be shifted to solar power, clean drinking water would be provided to the students and arrangements would also be made to preserve rainwater, our Faisalabad correspondent adds.

He said girls were outshining boys and added in a lighter vein that he apprehended that soon a quota would have to be allocated for the boys in the educational institutions.

Mr Sarwar said water filtration plants would be installed in all the jails, while hepatitis screening of the prisoners would also be ensured for their treatment.

Denying having any differences with the chief minister, he said Usman Buzdar used to consult him on different issues.
