LHC issues directives to ban sale of petrol to motorcyclists without helmets

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued directives to ban the sale of petrol to motorcycle riders who do not wear their helmets in Lahore.
The directives were issued by LHC judge Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi during the hearing of a petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddiq.
The judge warned that petrol stations that are found in violations of the court's directives will be sealed and made to face legal action.
Furthermore, Justice Qureshi told the chief traffic officer of Lahore to submit a compliance report in this regard by next week.
The LHC had last month directed the CTO Lahore to start enforcing the condition of wearing safety helmet on pillion riders from December 1 without any discrimination.

So how you will enforce this law in a country where people are not convinced at all that helmet has nothing to do with some conspiracy but it is for our personal safety. You know how they worked around this law in ISB. The pump owners have their own helmets so if someone come without helmet not to break the law they give the rider helmet fill his tank and then take helmet back. No law is broken bravo

Good move by LHC to reduce accidents and casualties caused by irresponsible motor bike ridders. Will this reduce serious accidents? Time will tell!

Now petrol station will keep an extra helmet to be given to motorcyclist who do not have to sale the petrol to them.

@Nomi Goraya , law is already broken when owners start doing unethical practices. To solve this issue govt needs to put CCTV camera in every petrol station in middle of ceiling so it can monitor who is wearing helmets or not.

First of all, please ban sale of motorcycles to under age teens. Today, everywhere in Pakistan, young teens are in possession of cheap Chinese bikes, without proper registration or documentation. Who are the dealers selling these bikes without checking ID cards and age of these youth? And why is the police ineffective in checking and keeping such bikers off the road? It's a serious nationwide issue that needs to be dealt with urgently.
