Majid clinches bronze at IBSF 6-Reds Snooker

KARACHI: Giving his career best performance, youthful Mohammad Majid Ali seized bronze medal after being ousted in the semi-final of the IBSF 6-Reds Snooker Championship in the Egyptian city of Marsa Alam on Saturday.

According to results made available here, Majid, who is making waves, stormed back from a frame down to inflict crushing 5-1 defeat on experienced cueist Habib Subha of Bahrain to reach his men’s world 6-Reds semis for the first time ever.

Former runner-up of the Asian under-21 snooker championship, Majid, used all his skills to whip Subha 0-70, 44-1, 38-25, 36-25, 51-7, 36-33.to reach last-four state of the competition.

Thailand’s Tanawat Tirapongpaiboon however, ended Majid’s impressive run by registering 5-1 victory (25-2, 58-10, 0-69, 54-4, 60-0, 54-8) to set an all-Thai final with Pongsakorn Suwannawat who got the better of Indian Alok Kumar straight 5-0 (32-22, 47-23, 39-32, 36-22, 35-18) in the other semi-final.

Quarter-final: Majid bt Habib Subha (Bahrain) 5-1 (0-70, 44-1, 38-25, 36-25, 51-7, 36-33).
