BAHAWALPUR: Nine schoolchildren and a driver were injured when a wagon hit the motorcycle-rickshaw by which they were going to their institution at Uch Sharif about 70 kilometres from here on Friday.

Police and Rescue 1122 sources said 20 children were going to their school when a wagon hit the three-wheeler as a result of which nine students and their driver were injured. They were taken to Ahmedpur East THQ hospital where three children and the driver were stated to be in serious condition.

The Uch Sharif police claimed that they took the wagon driver into custody for legal action.

In another incident, two children suffered burns when a house at Basti Shahwala Bagh near Ahmedpur East caught fire. They were admitted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) where one of them was stated to be critical.
