Polio vaccination

Published December 19, 2018

THIS is apropos the news item ‘Age limit for polio vaccination doubled in parts of Islamabad’ (Dec 14). I appreciate the government efforts to eradicate polio in the country. I am a resident of Sector H-9 and a mother of two children aged under 10.

The H-9 area has mainly the key public- and private -sector educational and training institutes of Islamabad. Many of these institutes are residential. If excluded from the list of selected sectors for polio vaccination of children aged five to 10 years, a significant number of children in this sector will remain exposed to this fatal disease. Through these columns I would request the authorities concerned to include Sector H-9 among the areas selected for a higher-age polio vaccination.
