ISLAMABAD: Journalists held demonstrations in major cities on Monday to protest layoff by the Jang group.

Representative bodies of journalists led the protests in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital journalists boycotted proceedings of the KP Assembly in protest against large-scale sacking of journalists and other employees by the Jang group.

The media group management cut hundreds of jobs last week and shut down some of its publications, including Awam and Daily News.
