KARACHI: A youth sustained burn injuries under mysterious circumstances in Orangi Town on Saturday, police and Edhi Foundation officials said.

Pakistan Bazaar SHO Majid Korai said that Faraz Alam, 22, sustained burn injuries outside the main gate of his home in Gulshan-i-Zia near the Christian graveyard.

His clothes caught fire and he went inside home to put it out.

He sustained 15 to 20pc burn wounds and was taken to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment.

The police officer said that the wounded person was a civilian employee of the Pakistan Army.

He added that they were trying to ascertain as to whether it was an ‘accident’ or someone tried to set him on fire over some issue. The Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that he was set on fire by someone in the area. So far, no case has been registered.
