KARACHI: A 10-year-old missing boy was found murdered in the Manghopir area on Monday, police said.

They added that the body of the boy was located in a hilly area. He was throttled with a belt, said Manghopir DSP Khalid Khan. The body was partially decomposed.

He had been missing since Dec 7 from Gulshan-i-Ghazi Goth in the same vicinity. The family had lodged his missing report on the same day.

Quoting the family, the DSP said that the boy worked at a barbershop. He had left the shop to answer the call of nature but did not return to the workplace or home.

The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil legal formalities. Police surgeon Dr Aijaz Khokhar told Dawn that the body appeared to be three to four days old.

The doctors also took his samples for chemical examination and other reports. Later, police surgeon at the ASH Dr Saleem Shaikh confirmed that the boy was raped before being killed with the help of a belt.
