KARACHI: The Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal on Monday opened the last campaign of 2018 to eradicate polio across the province at Hilal-i-Ahmar near Teen Talwar, officials said.
The minister said polio cases had been reduced through intensive drives “but we are facing refusals because of repeated vaccination”.
She urged parents to cooperate with polio teams and secure the future of their children.
The campaign would last for a full week in Karachi from where the only polio case has emerged during the current year. Elsewhere in Sindh, the campaign would end by Thursday, officials said.
Approximately 8.9 million children are slated to be vaccinated during the campaign, of which around 2.3m children reside in Karachi.
